In a good matchup it was the SSB SSB Tar Heels 5, the slumping Enterprise
Trekkers 3 at the ballpark.
Enterprise fell behind quickly as the SSB offense came through in the first
inning scoring 3 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Jay Payton got
things rolling when he delivered a one-base hit. Alex Rodriguez came next
and he drew a walk. Mark Redman then let a pitch get away from him. Albert
Pujols stepped in and he lofted a three-run bomb (his 23rd of the season).
Enterprise threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Kevin Brown(7-1) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Mariano
Rivera recorded his 12th save. Redman(4-6) was given the loss. He
surrendered 6 hits and 6 walks in 5 innings.
'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Scott Leitner 'but it's losing the close
ones that really hurt.'
